The odd flywheel...cont

Well its off - see 3 - and its definitely different to the other, which I'm pretty sure is a standard Villiers mk 1.

The top recess 'is' the same, it seemed smaller - and the magnet arrangement matches. I clocked the centre boss size with the digi calipers and they are identical, wherever you measure, in relation to the woodruff keyway.

The massive difference, now its off is the depth of the centre taper fitting. The one on the engine is about 12mm longer than the other !

And, as said previously, the top is dished on one, at the flywheel nut position - 4 mm under the edges - whereas the other spare Villiers is just 2mm in the centre. They are both 1mm recess at the edge rim - where the black cord plate fits in. The other fits the taper and key fine - which is a bonus, as it was just chucked in with the other spare bits attached to the replacement engine block. I'm trying to pick some brains as to whether anyone knows anything of the serial no.

Left - as on engine. No - R 345A80 CD HJ - dipped 4mm into the centre on the top face. Underside small mk - M42 ( stamped in a small circle ) Centre boss identical on the cam profile, but about 12mm deeper.

Right - What I'm fairly sure is a Villiers mk 1 - no R65/A61/M-12-8 ( bold figures dubious ) Top face essentially flat - much shorter centre boss. Similar no. stamped on underside - M25 ( stamped in a small circle)

I'm beginning to wonder if its off a Flymo or something ! Maybe I'll Google the serial no
